Zacharias Tanee Fomum was not just a writer — he was a man on a mission. Born in Cameroon in 1945, his life tells the story of someone deeply in love with Jesus and fully committed to spreading that love across the world. Dr. Fomum wrote more than 150 books, most of them centered on spiritual growth, prayer, inner healing, and walking closely with God. His words, simple yet profound, continue to speak to hearts today. Whether you’re reading one of his bestselling series like The Prayer Power Series or his eye-opening standalone titles like Inner Healing or Personal Spiritual Revival, you’re likely to feel as though he’s speaking straight to your soul.
His books are more than just pages filled with religious talk—they are living messages meant to stir your heart, awaken your spirit, and call you closer to the presence of God. Many of his works have touched millions, with over five million printed copies distributed around the world. Even more impressive, they have been translated into at least twelve languages, opening the door for global readers to experience their life-changing messages.
But Zacharias Tanee Fomum was not only an author. He was also a man of science. He earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Makerere University in Uganda at the young age of 28. He later completed his Doctor of Science degree at Durham University in the UK, a recognition of his remarkable scientific contributions. With over 160 published scientific papers, he worked as a respected professor and supervised countless Master’s and Doctoral students. And yet, despite his achievements in the world of science, Fomum always believed that Jesus Christ was the true Master of science. He once said that Jesus was the Director of his research lab, and he merely served as the assistant. That blend of faith and intellect defined much of who he was.
What made Fomum’s message powerful was the fact that he lived what he preached. In 1966, he dedicated his entire life to the service of Jesus Christ, and he never turned back. He was a man of deep prayer. Every day, he would spend time with God—sometimes just 15 minutes, sometimes up to 6 hours—praying, listening, meditating, and speaking to the Lord. It wasn’t just a habit; it was his lifeline. Over the years, he recorded over 50,000 answers to his prayers, showing just how deeply connected he was to God.
He also believed in action. As the founder of Christian Missionary Fellowship International (CMFI), he helped plant thousands of churches in more than 75 countries. He didn’t just send people—he went himself. Fomum made over 700 missionary trips across Cameroon alone, and over 500 journeys to nearly 70 countries. His aim? To share the Gospel, train leaders, and bring healing—both physical and spiritual—to those in need. During his ministry, it is said that over 10,000 people were miraculously healed from various illnesses including blindness, cancer, deafness, and more.
His heart burned with passion to see people live fully for Christ. He urged believers to return to their “first love,” to pray more, fast more, and obey God with joy. His book Personal Spiritual Revival challenges lukewarm hearts and calls them back to the fire of God. In Inner Healing, he writes tenderly to the brokenhearted, urging them to bring their pain to Jesus—the only One who can truly heal the inside.
Despite his worldwide influence and respected academic standing, Zacharias Tanee Fomum lived humbly. He avoided luxury and poured his resources into missionary work. He was married to Prisca Zei Fomum and together they raised seven children, who now continue his mission. Fomum passed away in 2009, but his legacy lives on—through his books, his teachings, and the many lives he touched.
If you’re looking for books that will not only teach you but transform you, you’re in the right place. Through this blog, we’ll explore Fomum’s works in order, dive into the themes he cherished most, and hopefully, grow a little closer to God along the way—just like he would have wanted.
