About Kristin Hannah

Kristin Hannah is a famous and beloved American author. She was born in September 1960 in sunny Southern California. As a little girl, she loved playing on the beach, building sandcastles, and surfing in the waves. When Kristin was eight years old, her family moved to western Washington. This beautiful and quiet place became her new home and where she spent most of her life.

Kristin Hannah did not start her career as a writer. She first worked in advertising, in a creative job with stylish people. Later, she went to law school and studied hard to become a lawyer. She graduated and began working as a lawyer in Seattle, Washington. But something special happened during this time that changed her life forever.

Kristin’s mother became very sick with cancer when Kristin was in law school. One day, her mother said, “You are going to be an author.” These words stayed in Kristin’s heart. They began writing a story together while her mother was in the hospital. After her mother passed away, Kristin kept their story notes in a box and didn’t write again for a while.

Later, Kristin got married and became pregnant. During her pregnancy, she started reading a lot—so much that she even read cereal boxes when she ran out of books! Her husband reminded her about the story she had once written with her mom. So she began writing again. She finished her first book before her baby was born. Even though her first draft was rejected, she never gave up. Every “no” made her want to try harder.

In 1990, Kristin received a call that changed her life. Her first book was accepted! From that moment on, she became a full-time writer. Since then, she has written more than twenty books. Some of her most famous novels include Firefly Lane, Winter Garden, True Colors, and The Nightingale.
