The Oceanside series by Debbie Macomber is set in a quiet coastal town in the Pacific Northwest where people go to get knocked down by life. But when she starts volunteering at an animal shelter things start to change. She bonds with a stray dog named Shadow and meets Cade, a former soldier carrying his own pain. Through those quiet unexpected moments Hope finds something steady again. Not everything is fixed but she starts to believe things might be okay someday.
