Allison Brennan‘s Seven Deadly Sins series is a thrilling and dark stuff that can easily catch anyone. The story tension and emotions are such that the reader is hardly able to lay the book down at all.

The series opens with Original Sin where we are introduced to a Moira ODonnell. Moira is a woman who has gone through a lot searching for her mother, Fiona. Fiona is far from being a regular personshe has been practicing black magic and this has put everyone around her in great danger. Moiras quest takes her to different places and revives her past traumas but finally, she ends up in a little town in California. At the first glance, the town seems quiet but later on, it becomes obvious that it is not right.

Moira in her journey encounters Rafe Cooper, a former seminary student who has his own doubts and past which he regrets. They are very different but still, they make up their minds to help each other. What initially starts as a solitary quest slowly grows into a large threat situation, as they find out that the danger is not only for one family.

This series of crime fiction combines the thrill of a psychological mystery, a complex family story, and the drama of a religious issue. The book is written in a very cinematic way that enables the readers absolutely visualize the events, even with the few words used. The story has a great blend of drama, fear and mystique, especially when the evil is personified. One could say that this is a dark, one, line read.
